Even after two years, the Russia-Ukraine war shows no signs of ending. Peace-loving people have been hoping for news that the war would conclude at some point, but both nations remain adamant. Many believed that after Donald Trump became the U.S. President and halted support to Ukraine, the latter would be forced to retreat. However, Ukraine hasn’t backed down and continues to assert its presence with strategic moves.
Ukraine even surprised the world by executing a drone attack within Russian territory, emphasizing its resolve to keep fighting without bowing down. Despite Trump’s claims that he would end the war if elected President, those remain mere words so far.
Meanwhile, the war triggered hidden conflicts among traditional rival nations across the globe. As the Russia-Ukraine war drags on, the Israel-Palestine conflict has turned brutally violent. With Hamas’s terror attacks, Israel’s aggressive retaliation, and the ongoing blockade of Gaza, the situation has become a daily horror show. The death toll over the past two years is unimaginable, and life in Gaza has become unbearable. Yet, the world seems too preoccupied to care. Unless hundreds of thousands more lives are lost, a lasting resolution may remain elusive.
Adding to the chaos, Israel has now set its sights on Iran, accusing it of developing nuclear weapons. Israel launched attacks on Iranian targets, and Iran has responded with equal aggression, including an attack on a U.S. military base in Qatar, signaling its readiness for direct confrontation.
Despite reports that Iran’s uranium enrichment facilities were bombed, some claim Iran had already moved critical materials to other locations. Iran also attacked a U.S. base to assert its presence. While many believed the U.S. wouldn’t rest until there was a regime change in Iran—turning it into another Iraq—Trump denied such intentions, claiming to support peace.
In the midst of all this, India and Pakistan also clashed briefly. After the terror attack on tourists in Pahalgam by Pakistani extremists, India responded strongly. Many Indians hoped this retaliation would continue and put an end to terrorism once and for all. But India halted its actions midway. Trump tried to take credit for the pause, but the Indian government clarified it was entirely India’s own decision.
What the average Indian wants, however, is not temporary peace. They believe Pakistan should be dealt such a severe blow that it fears resorting to terrorism again. That hasn't happened yet, and Pakistan’s future strategies remain to be seen.
All in all, the world today is anything but peaceful. West Asia has been burning for decades, with no sign of calm. Tensions between India and Pakistan continue, while the U.S. stirs conflicts selectively to serve its interests. For now, global peace seems like a distant dream—just a fantasy for the foreseeable future.
