Iran has officially announced that the ceasefire agreement has come into effect, signaling an end to the 12-day war with Israel. According to Iran, just before the ceasefire was implemented, it launched a final missile strike on Israel.
On the other hand, U.S. President Donald Trump had already announced the ceasefire agreement. In a post on Truth Social, he confirmed the end of the war, stating:
“Congratulations to all. Israel and Iran have agreed to a full ceasefire. Operations will begin in the next six hours, and the war will officially end within 12 hours. Iran will begin the ceasefire, followed by Israel. When one country agrees to ceasefire, the other should respond with peace and respect. I believe everything will go smoothly. Had this war dragged on for years, the Middle East would have been devastated. Thankfully, that didn’t happen, and it won’t happen in the future. May God bless Israel, Iran, the Middle East, and the United States.”
However, it’s worth noting that earlier, Tehran had dismissed Trump’s announcement, stating that no formal agreement on ceasefire or halting military operations had been reached between the two nations at that point. Iranian Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araghchi had clarified that while Iran was not seeking to prolong the war, it was Israel that initiated the conflict. He added that Iran was willing to stop if Israel ceased its aggression, but a final decision on military disengagement was still pending at that time.
In the hours leading up to the ceasefire announcement, around 4 a.m., Iran launched multiple missile attacks on Israel, which was confirmed by the IDF (Israel Defense Forces). The strikes triggered air raid sirens across southern and central Israel. The IDF urged civilians to move to safe zones amid the bombardment. As a result of these attacks, three people lost their lives and several others were injured — with some reported to be in critical condition.
Now, with Iran officially confirming the ceasefire, the 12-day war appears to have come to a close.
