“I don’t smoke in real life. I don’t even like doing smoking scenes on screen. I don’t support the concept of smoking. It’s my personal opinion. If someone asks me to act in a smoking scene for a film, I’d rather walk away from the project. But I will not smoke.”
This was Rashmika Mandanna’s recent statement at a public event. While such declarations might sound good, netizens say it would’ve been better if she had thought twice before making them — because an old scene of hers smoking a cigarette in a film is now resurfacing and going viral.
People are trolling her, asking why she forgot about that scene before making such a statement. “Didn’t she remember this while speaking about smoking?” questioned users online.
This isn’t the first time Rashmika has spoken out against smoking. A while back, a netizen directly asked her on social media, “How many cigarettes do you smoke in a day?” To which she calmly replied that she hates smoking and can’t even tolerate people smoking next to her. Ironically, that statement came before she did the smoking scene in question.
Rashmika has openly admitted to drinking wine. She once shared that she enjoys wine with tandoori pork, saying it feels like heaven. She added that she loves trying different cuisines and drinks — but draws the line at cigarettes.
Netizens, however, aren’t convinced and continue to call out the contradiction between her public statements and on-screen appearances.
