Bollywood appears to be on a collision course with Punjabi superstar Diljit Dosanjh. Amid reports that several Bollywood associations have threatened to ban the singer-actor, an old interview from 2021 is making waves again — and it shows that Diljit couldn’t care less.
In the resurfaced clip, Dosanjh is heard saying bluntly:
“I reject Bollywood. I don’t care about Bollywood. I don’t even want to work in Bollywood.”
The statement, now going viral across social media, has reignited conversations about the industry's alleged gatekeeping and Dosanjh’s fiercely independent stance. He also emphasized his belief in self-worth over validation from the Hindi film industry:
“I don’t need a superstar’s approval. Nobody can stop me.”
Diljit, who has successfully carved out a niche in Punjabi cinema and global music stages, has long distanced himself from the traditional structures of Bollywood. His comments reflect frustration with what many artists have previously called a “cliquish” industry.
The recent reports of a possible ban by Bollywood associations have yet to be officially confirmed. However, fans have been flooding social media with support for Diljit, applauding him for speaking his mind and staying true to his roots.
