When Donald Trump was first elected as President, he imposed a travel ban on several countries. Soon after being elected President for a second term, he further expanded the number of countries under the travel ban. Now, the US has added five more countries to the list. Citizens of these countries will not be allowed to enter the United States.
The US has imposed a complete travel ban on Burkina Faso, Mali, Niger, South Sudan, and Syria. These restrictions will come into effect from January 1.
Until recently, Sierra Leone and Laos were under a partial travel ban. Now, these two countries have also been moved to the list of nations facing a complete ban, as decided by Trump.
According to the revised lists, the number of countries facing a full travel ban has increased to 20, while 19 countries are under a partial travel ban. In total, people from 39 countries will not be able to enter the United States.
Recently, an Afghan national opened fire on National Guards personnel near the White House. Separately, two foreigners were involved in a shooting incident on a beach in Australia. Taking these incidents into consideration, the US revised its travel ban list. A majority of the countries on the US travel ban list are from Africa.
