Legendary footballer Lionel Messi has concluded his India tour. During his visit to Kolkata, Hyderabad, Mumbai, and Delhi, Messi brought immense joy to millions of fans and took back many sweet memories himself.
However, Indian fans who hoped to see him play a match were left disappointed. Leaving tournaments aside, Messi did not even play an exhibition match. He limited himself to waving at fans and performing a few light football tricks.
There is said to be a strong reason behind Messi not playing a game. He has life and health insurance, but more importantly, Messi has taken a special insurance policy for his priceless left leg.
The insurance value of his left leg alone is estimated to be around Rs 7600 crore in Indian currency. Because of this, Messi must strictly follow certain insurance conditions before playing any match. The insurance coverage applies only to matches officially scheduled by the Argentina national team or his club, Inter Miami.
If he plays in unscheduled matches and suffers an injury, it would not be covered under the insurance policy. This is believed to be the main reason why Messi did not take any risk and avoided playing even an exhibition match during his India tour.
