Former U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris has strongly criticized former President Joe Biden, blaming his arrogance for their party’s defeat in the last elections. She also said that his decision to contest the 2024 presidential election again was extremely irresponsible. Harris made these remarks in her memoir “107 Days.”
It may be recalled that after a poor performance in the July 2024 debate, Biden withdrew from the presidential race. Following his exit, Kamala Harris entered the race as the Democratic Party’s candidate but eventually lost to Republican candidate Donald Trump. In this context, Harris detailed the behind-the-scenes events in her book.
She wrote that during Biden’s tenure, both Joe and Jill Biden’s personal decisions were followed blindly like a mantra, which she described as foolish. She added that only after heated discussions within the party did Biden withdraw his candidacy, and her name was proposed—but by then, the damage was already done. According to her, Biden’s ego and recklessness were the main reasons behind the party’s defeat in the last elections.
Harris also revealed that she was not in a position to advise Biden to step down at that time. If she had, Biden would have thought she was doing it out of selfishness and lust for power. She added that during her tenure as Vice President, her relationship with the White House was limited and that Biden’s staff had sidelined her completely, undermining her importance.
