Bangladesh’s general elections will be held in February next year, according to Mohammad Yunus, the chief adviser in the country’s caretaker government.
Speaking to a channel in Dhaka on the occasion of one year since Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina stepped down, he made the announcement.
He noted that the month of Ramadan is expected to begin on February 17–18, 2026, and revealed that the Election Commission has been formally requested via letter to complete the polls before then.
