To mark the 75th anniversary of the adoption of the Indian Constitution, a special joint session of Parliament is scheduled for November 26.
This session will be held in the historic Central Hall, the same venue where the Constitution was adopted on November 26, 1949. Members of both houses will gather to discuss the evolution of various constitutional articles and amendments since its inception.
Previously, November 26 was observed as National Law Day. However, in 2015, in honor of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s 125th birth anniversary, it was renamed as Constitution Day. With the Constitution reaching this milestone, the central government has decided to convene this commemorative session.
