The election for the post of Vice President has become inevitable. The BJP has finalized Maharashtra Governor C.P. Radhakrishnan as its candidate. However, the party’s efforts to secure unanimous support for his candidature did not succeed. The INDIA bloc has announced Justice B. Sudarshan Reddy as its candidate.
It is notable that both contenders hail from South Indian states. BJP nominee Radhakrishnan is a native of Tamil Nadu. Starting his political career as an RSS worker, he gradually rose within the BJP, serving two terms as a Lok Sabha MP. He is currently the Governor of Maharashtra and has now entered the Vice Presidential race with BJP’s backing.
The INDIA bloc’s candidate, Justice Sudarshan Reddy, is from Telangana, hailing from Akulamaliram village in Ranga Reddy district. He graduated in law from Osmania University in 1991. He served as Chief Justice of the Guwahati High Court in 2005 and as a Supreme Court judge between 2007 and 2011. He was also the first Lokayukta of Goa.
Justice Sudarshan Reddy enjoys a strong professional and personal reputation, known for his integrity and commitment to justice. His entry into the Vice Presidential race comes at a politically sensitive time in the country, making the contest all the more significant. He is set to file his nomination on the 21st of this month.
