In Lucknow a thief broke into Dr. Sunil Pandey’s empty house in the early hours of June 2, hoping to steal valuables.
Instead, he turned on the air conditioner in the living room and fell asleep on the floor, using a cushion for his head.
Dr. Pandey’s neighbors noticed the front gate open and contacted him, prompting him to alert the police since he was away in Varanasi.
When the police arrived they found the thief sound asleep, clutching a mobile phone.
DCP North Zone R Vijay Shankar explained that the man was heavily drunk which caused him to fall asleep and remain unaware of his surroundings.
The police arrested the thief and are planning further action. The incident has sparked the idea that it could serve as an amusing advertisement for air conditioners showcasing their irresistible comfort even to a burglar.
