After a long hiatus of 13 years, actress Genelia D’Souza is back in front of the camera, and she’s approaching her comeback with remarkable humility and professionalism. While many senior actresses seek tailor-made roles, Genelia says she is open to auditions — even now.
The actress recently returned to the big screen with a Hindi film, Sitaare Zameen Par, and later acted in a Kannada movie. Now, she's eagerly looking forward to making a comeback in Telugu cinema.
"I’ve been in the industry for many years and have earned the label of a senior actor. Some people ask me if it’s really necessary to audition at this stage. But I believe it is. There’s no better way to bag a strong role than through a proper audition. So yes, I’m more than happy to audition for good roles," Genelia shared in a recent interview.
Interestingly, Genelia was cast in Sitaare Zameen Par only after auditioning, proving her commitment to the craft and her belief in earning roles on merit.
She has played a key role in an upcoming film alongside Jr. NTR, which is also being released in Telugu. Genelia believes this film could be a turning point and that filmmakers might see her in a new light after its release.
With her grounded attitude and eagerness to re-establish herself, Genelia is setting an example — showing that experience and seniority do not exempt one from effort and dedication.
