Exit Poll Specialist Cries In TV Studio

Pradeep Gupta of Axis My India who conducts exit polls with India Today was seen crying on live television after their exit polls predicted nearly 400 seats for the BJP-led NDA in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections which turned out to be inaccurate.

Early trends show the NDA securing 296 seats falling short of forming the government on its own, contrary to the exit polls which predicted 350-400 seats.

The INDIA alliance performed better than expected, causing the exit poll predictions to fall apart. Gupta, emotional during the live broadcast was consoled by India Today anchors with Rajdeep Sardesai acknowledging Gupta’s accuracy in states like Andhra Pradesh and Odisha.

A video shows Gupta breaking down during the debate with anchors comforting him. Rahul Kanwal cracked a joke to lighten the mood, and Rajdeep Sardesai reassured Gupta saying, "It's ok, it happens", and encouraged him to smile.

Sardesai also mentioned they would introspect on the errors. Gupta eventually collected himself and stated that the verdict would push the government to focus more on delivering promises.
