Trouble for the Central Election Commission

The Central Election Commission (CEC) is facing intense pressure from leaders of the INDIA alliance, led by Rahul Gandhi. Recently, Rahul Gandhi publicly alleged, with evidence, that the CEC was involved in vote theft for the BJP. Following this, he attended a rally in Bengaluru. Today, hundreds of MPs from the INDIA alliance held a massive protest march to the Election Commission office in Delhi, drawing nationwide attention.

Starting from the Parliament’s main gate in Delhi, INDIA alliance MPs marched towards the CEC office. However, police stopped them, saying no permission had been granted for the protest. Barricades were set up to block the MPs. In a dramatic moment, former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav climbed over the barricade and jumped to the other side.

The protest was against the Special Intensive Revision of the voters’ list in Bihar and allegations of vote theft during the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Dramatic developments unfolded when the Election Commission sent a message to Congress MP Jairam Ramesh, stating that only 30 MPs would be allowed to visit their office. The opposition MPs refused to accept this.

Police then arrested the protesting MPs. Speaking on the occasion, Rahul Gandhi said they had already presented the truth about vote theft before the nation, but the other side remained silent. He stressed that they were fighting to protect the Constitution and the right to vote, demanding a clean and accurate voters’ list.
