In a shocking and tragic incident in Haryana’s Hisar district, two Class 12 students allegedly murdered their school principal after he advised them to maintain discipline and get a haircut. The incident took place on Guru Purnima, a day traditionally dedicated to honouring teachers—ironically turning into a day of horror.
The incident occurred at Kartarpur Memorial Senior Secondary School in Bass Badshapur village, Hisar. The 50-year-old principal, Jagbir Singh, reportedly advised some students to maintain personal hygiene, wear a proper uniform, and get a haircut as part of the school’s discipline guidelines.
However, two of the students took offence to this seemingly harmless advice. Enraged, they brought a knife to school and attacked the principal, stabbing him multiple times—primarily in the chest. The assault caused severe bleeding, and despite efforts by other students and staff to rush him to a private hospital, Jagbir Singh succumbed to his injuries.
The accused students fled the scene immediately after the attack. Fellow students informed the teachers about the incident, who then tried to save the principal, but it was too late. The murder has sent shockwaves across the region, especially because the attackers were minors.
This heartbreaking event highlights a growing concern in today’s society—the rising intolerance and impulsive behaviour among some members of the younger generation. What should have been a day of respect turned into a reminder of how fragile the student-teacher relationship has become in certain cases.
Authorities are currently investigating the case, and appropriate legal action will be taken against the students involved. The education community and local residents are mourning the loss of a dedicated educator, whose only “fault” was encouraging discipline.
