In a diplomatic push to counter terrorism from Pakistan, the Congress submitted four MPs' names for foreign delegations—but notably excluded senior leader Shashi Tharoor. The selected Congress MPs include Anand Sharma, Gaurav Gogoi, Syed Naseer Hussain, and Raja Brar, as confirmed by party General Secretary Jairam Ramesh.
However, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju included Tharoor in the Centre’s official list of seven MPs representing India abroad in the anti-terrorism outreach. Alongside Tharoor are leaders from BJP, JDU, DMK, NCP (SP), and Shiv Sena, showcasing an all-party effort under “Operation Sindoor” to promote India's stance on terrorism.
Despite being omitted by his own party, Tharoor graciously accepted the government’s call, stating, “When national interest is involved, and my services are required, I will not be found wanting.” Rijiju emphasized the bipartisan unity behind the mission, asserting that India stands united in the fight against terrorism.
