Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been conferred with the prestigious "Honorary Order of Freedom of Barbados" by the government of Barbados. This rare honor was awarded in recognition of his strong leadership and valuable assistance during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The award was presented at a special ceremony held in Bridgetown, Barbados, where India's Minister of State for External Affairs, Pabitra Margherita, received the honor on behalf of PM Modi.
India’s Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) confirmed the development in an official statement. It also mentioned that the announcement of this award was made by Barbados Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley during her meeting with PM Modi at the 2nd India-CARICOM Leaders’ Summit, which took place in Georgetown, Guyana, on November 20, 2023.
This recognition highlights India’s growing diplomatic ties with Caribbean nations and acknowledges PM Modi’s global leadership in crisis management.
