With the resignation of Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, speculation is mounting over who will be chosen as his successor. Several names are being prominently discussed in the political circles for the post of Vice President. These include Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, Congress MP Shashi Tharoor, Janata Dal (United) MP and Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman Harivansh Narayan Singh, Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, Delhi LG Vinai Kumar Saxena, and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh.
However, in a surprising twist, reports now suggest that Ram Nath Thakur, a JD(U) leader and Union Minister, is being considered for the position. This speculation has drawn responses from several BJP leaders, with reliable sources indicating that the next Vice President is likely to be a nominee from the BJP.
Meanwhile, following the unexpected resignation of Dhankhar, the Vice Presidential election process is expected to begin soon. The Election Commission of India has reportedly started internal preparations, and sources say that the official election schedule may be announced within the next 48 to 72 hours. The entire election process is expected to be completed by the end of August. However, no official announcement has been made so far.
