NDA surges ahead in Bihar

The NDA alliance has been surging ahead ever since the counting of votes for the Bihar Assembly elections began. According to details released by the Election Commission up to 10 a.m., the NDA was leading in 130 seats, while the Mahagathbandhan was ahead in only 60 constituencies. Based on the trends, the NDA is projected to win more than 150 seats.

In the previous Assembly, the NDA had won 131 seats, and this time the alliance appears set to secure an even larger number. Notably, JD(U) is poised to win the highest number of MLA seats in the state and emerge as the single largest party.

As per the Election Commission’s first updates at 10 a.m., the BJP was leading in 50 seats, JD(U) in 58, LJP(RV) in 15, and HAM(S) in four. On the Opposition side, the RJD was ahead in 30, Congress in 10, and CPI(ML)(L) in two seats. Reports suggest that the Mahagathbandhan suffered significant setbacks due to the influence of election strategist Prashant Kishor’s party.

Vote counting for the 243 Assembly seats began at 8 a.m. with the scrutiny of postal ballots. This was followed by the counting of EVM votes starting at 8:30 a.m. The process is underway across the state under extensive security arrangements.
