Modi’s Event to Have All-Women Security – A First in India’s History

On the occasion of International Women’s Day tomorrow, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend a special event in Navsari, Gujarat. In a historic first, the security for this event will be managed exclusively by women police personnel.

Gujarat Minister Harsh Sanghavi announced that an all-women security team will be deployed for the Prime Minister’s safety, from the helipad to the event venue. This marks the first time in India’s history that only women police officers will be responsible for the security of a Prime Minister’s event.

Over 2,300 women police personnel will be on duty, including:

2,100+ constables
187 sub-inspectors
61 police inspectors
16 DSPs
5 SPs
1 IG and 1 Additional DGP

Senior IPS officer and Home Department Secretary Nippuna Toravane will oversee the security arrangements.
