Delhi court reserves verdict in 1984 anti-Sikh riots case

A Delhi court has reserved its verdict in the 1984 anti-Sikh riots case. After the conclusion of final arguments, Special Judge Dig Vinay Singh announced on Monday that the judgment has been reserved for January 22.

Congress former MP Sajjan Kumar, the main accused in the case, was produced before the court amid heavy security.

In February 2015, a Special Investigation Team registered two FIRs against Sajjan Kumar based on complaints related to the violence that occurred during the riots in Vikas Puri and Janak Puri areas of Delhi.

The first FIR pertains to the murder of Sohan Singh and his son-in-law Avtar Singh on November 1, 1984. The second FIR relates to the incident on November 2, 1984, in which Gurcharan Singh was set on fire in Vikas Puri.
