Even directors who have delivered massive disasters are still finding producers willing to back them. Slowly, they’re launching new films. There are quite a few directors in our industry who’ve consistently delivered flops for years but still continue to get opportunities — naming them might not be polite, but we all know who they are.
So, some might think director Shankar won’t face any issues either. But Shankar’s case is quite different. The big question now, and a hot topic in film circles, is: Who is the brave producer willing to bankroll Shankar’s next film?
Shankar's movies operate on a completely different scale. If you go in expecting a certain budget, it ends up costing double. Even a seasoned producer like Dil Raju had to bow down to Shankar's demands. Shankar delivered one of the biggest disasters in the form of Indian 2, and followed it up with another high-budget film Game Changer — also in the same vein.
Now, he has announced his dream project, claiming it will be a highly advanced, tech-driven film based on the novel "Velpari." He’s declared that, after Robo, this is the project closest to his heart.
Announcing the film is one thing, but who is the producer with the courage (and the deep pockets) to invest in Shankar again — especially after seeing the results of Indian 2 and Game Changer? That’s the question the entire industry — and the country, it seems — is eagerly waiting to be answered.
