Former Australian cricket team captain Michael Clarke is known as a highly talented cricketer who led his team to several memorable victories. After Ricky Ponting, Clarke successfully took over the captaincy and went on to lead Australia to victory in the 2015 ODI World Cup, cementing his legacy as a World Cup–winning captain.
Despite his illustrious cricketing career, Clarke confirmed his separation from his wife about six years ago.
Clarke had married an Australian model, but the couple has been living separately since 2020. Reports at the time suggested that the separation was due to an alleged affair involving Clarke. News surfaced that Clarke was in a relationship with his lady assistant, following which his wife reportedly decided to part ways and pursue a divorce.
Recently, the couple revealed details of their divorce settlement to the Australian media. In a joint statement confirming their separation, they disclosed that the divorce was settled for 40 million Australian dollars. In Indian currency, this amounts to approximately Rs 300 crore, which Clarke reportedly paid to his former wife as part of the settlement.
The couple has a daughter, and Clarke has handed over her custody and responsibilities to his ex-wife.
Given that Michael Clarke is a former Australian star cricketer and a World Cup–winning captain, it is believed that his earnings during the peak of his career were substantial. As a result, the divorce settlement has turned out to be extremely expensive.
Among cricketers, this is being regarded as one of the costliest divorce settlements in cricket history.
