Vijay received Rs 220 crore remuneration

Film heroes often speak about entering politics and stress the need for transparency. However, when it comes to their own movies, they rarely reveal details about budgets, remunerations, or box-office collections. Even heroes who preach honesty and values through their films keep financial details strictly confidential. In line with this trend, Vijay’s remuneration has now become the subject of widespread speculation, with rumours turning into headlines.

It is being reported that Vijay received a massive remuneration for Jananayagan, which he announced as his last film before entering politics. With this film, Vijay is said to have become the highest-paid actor in India. Talk suggests that he was paid a staggering Rs 220 crore for this single film. No other actor has reportedly received such a huge amount for one movie. Compared to Vijay’s remuneration, stars like Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, and Prabhas are said to fall behind.

The total budget of Jananayagan is reportedly around Rs 380 crore, of which Vijay’s remuneration alone accounts for more than 50 percent—said to be Rs 220 crore. Even earlier, Vijay’s pay was never modest. Reports claim he charged close to Rs 200 crore for The GOAT and increased his remuneration by nearly 10 percent for the current film. Before that, he reportedly charged around Rs 120 crore each for Leo and Varisu. By that measure, his remuneration has now almost doubled.

The publicity that Jananayagan is Vijay’s final film before his political entry has further boosted the film’s market value. The movie is also expected to generate massive collections in Tamil Nadu.

Interestingly, while Vijay’s remuneration has reportedly touched the skies, the figures being discussed for others appear comparatively small. Reports suggest the heroine received around Rs 3 crore, while the villain’s remuneration is also said to be about Rs 3 crore.

Until now, Shah Rukh Khan was considered to be at the top in terms of remuneration, with reports claiming he earned around Rs 200 crore for Jawan. That record is now said to have been surpassed by Vijay. Meanwhile, Prabhas is reportedly being paid between Rs 160 crore and Rs 200 crore for Spirit, the upcoming film directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga.
