Star Cricketer to Marry Music Director

Star Cricketer to Marry Music Director

The headline “Star Cricketer to Marry Music Director” clearly suggests that the music director is a man and the star cricketer is a woman. Naturally, the question arises — who is this star cricketer set to marry a music director?

Generally, in India, men’s cricket enjoys far greater popularity than women’s cricket. Women’s matches don’t usually receive as much attention. However, in recent years, women’s cricket has been gaining recognition and admiration from sports lovers.

While most people remember male cricketers’ names easily, very few can recall female players’ names. Among that small group, one name stands out — Smriti Mandhana. She is the face of Indian women’s cricket and has played a huge role in bringing fame and following to the women’s game.

In the Women’s World Cup, Smriti Mandhana has been giving Team India solid starts with her explosive batting. With four centuries this year, the 29-year-old opener has already set a remarkable record.

In the ICC Women’s ODI Batting Rankings, Mandhana continues to shine. She had an exceptional run last year and was named ICC Women’s ODI Cricketer of the Year for 2024.

At a match in Visakhapatnam between India and Australia, she made history by becoming the first cricketer to score 1,000 runs in a calendar year in Women’s ODIs, achieving the feat as the world’s No. 1 batter in the ICC rankings.

Before this historic achievement, she broke a long-standing record held by former Australian batter Belinda Clark, who had scored 970 runs in 16 ODIs back in 1997. Mandhana also became the fastest Indian cricketer to reach 5,000 runs in ODIs, surpassing the record previously held by Virat Kohli.

In that same match, she struck a four, six, and four in a single over bowled by Aussie spinner Sophie Molineux, marking the moment she achieved the milestone. Mandhana also broke another record — the most runs in a single calendar year in women’s ODIs, again surpassing Belinda Clark’s 1997 mark.

Having achieved so much, Smriti Mandhana has become a true inspiration for young women. Now, this star cricketer is all set to become the “Indore bride”, as she is marrying music director and film producer Palash Muchhal.

Their relationship has been an open secret for some time, and recently, Palash himself confirmed their relationship and hinted at marriage. Speaking at an event at the State Press Club in Indore, Palash said:

“She (Smriti Mandhana) is soon going to become the daughter-in-law of Indore. That’s all I want to say. I’ve already given you the headline.”

Palash Muchhal hails from Indore, and Smriti’s marriage to him will make her part of the Muchhal family — and indeed, the city’s new daughter-in-law. While the exact date and venue of the wedding haven’t been revealed yet, Palash’s words make it clear that the couple will soon tie the knot.
