Javed Akhtar On Modern Family Dynamics

Veteran writer Javed Akhtar recently shared his thoughts on evolving family dynamics during his visit to the USA. Speaking in a video posted by Zaidi Channel, Akhtar remarked on the shift from spontaneous visits among relatives to scheduling meetings days in advance.

He noted, "When we were little, we used to hear that in the US, even relatives called before visiting. Now we live that life, and it feels perfectly fine."

Discussing his relationship with his son, actor-director Farhan Akhtar, Javed revealed, "Farhan and I have to schedule our meetings 3-5 days in advance. It’s bound to happen—such is life." However, he emphasized the importance of allowing children independence, adding, "Being too dominant over your children is unnatural. Even animals let their grown offspring live their own lives."

Meanwhile, Farhan Akhtar celebrates his birthday on January 9. He will next star as Major Shaitan Singh in 120 Bahadur, a tribute to the 1962 Indo-China war, releasing on November 21, 2025.
