Actress Kangana Ranaut has reacted strongly to the growing live-in culture in the country. She openly said that she is completely against live-in relationships. According to her, there is neither safety nor trust between partners in such arrangements.
She questioned, “If a woman gets pregnant in a live-in relationship, who will take responsibility for her abortion? And if she doesn’t want an abortion, who will take care of her? Is there any guarantee that the man who lived with her won’t abandon her after making her pregnant?”
Kangana further added that in marriage, a bond is formed between two people, and around that bond stand parents and relatives who act as a support system. In this context, she also lashed out at dating apps, blaming them for the rise of live-in culture in India.
She said, “Only people who don’t trust themselves depend on dating apps. Girls like me cannot be found on dating apps — only losers are there. If you cannot find a suitable match in your office, family, or relatives, how can you expect to find the right life partner on a dating app?”
She concluded by saying that a girl needs not just social security but also financial independence. However, she argued that using that freedom for a live-in relationship is not the right way.
