Dream Come True: ShahRukh Wins His First National Award in a 33 Journey

Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, fondly known as “King Khan” by his fans, has finally achieved a milestone that eluded him for over three decades — a National Film Award. Some directors look for actors who suit their script, while others write scripts with a particular actor in mind. Shah Rukh Khan fits both categories perfectly. Born on November 2, 1965, in New Delhi, SRK began his career in the 1980s with television serials. He made his Bollywood debut with Deewana in 1992, and quickly surprised audiences with negative roles in Baazigar and Darr. However, it was the 1995 romantic classic Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge that became a turning point in his career, establishing him as a romantic icon.

Throughout his career, Shah Rukh impressed audiences with diverse roles in films like Swades, Chak De! India, My Name is Khan, and Devdas. He became known for portraying emotions like love, anger, confidence, and sorrow with finesse. Beyond acting, he has also produced several successful films. In one interview, he once said, “I want to die on a film set. If I must go, it should be right when someone says ‘Action’, before they say ‘Cut’. That’s my final wish.” These words reflect his extraordinary passion for cinema.

This love for the craft has made Shah Rukh one of the top stars in Bollywood. He is currently the richest actor in India and has acted in over 100 films, winning 14 Filmfare Awards, the Padma Shri, and several international honors. Now, he has added another prestigious recognition to his list — the National Film Award.

In the 71st National Film Awards announced by the Indian government, Shah Rukh Khan was named Best Actor for his outstanding dual role in Jawan. He shares the award with 12th Fail actor Vikrant Massey. Expressing his gratitude, Shah Rukh thanked the Government of India for selecting him for this honor. Recently injured during a shoot, he is currently receiving treatment at the Sharene Hospital. In a video message from there, he thanked his Jawan team and gave special mention to director Atlee. He also thanked his family, who he said are treating him like a child, and sent hugs and love to all his fans.

Shah Rukh said this award has increased his sense of responsibility for the films he will do in the future.
