Controversial 'Bhajan' To Narendra Modi In Odisha

Controversial 'Bhajan' To Narendra Modi In Odisha

The Odisha Congress criticized BJP leader Sambit Patra for mistakenly calling "Lord Jagannath a devotee of PM Modi."

This comment, seemingly a slip of the tongue, was made in Odia during a conversation with a reporter.

Patra expressed his deep emotions about PM Modi's visit to the Jagannath Temple in Puri calling it a special day for Odisha.

The Congress quickly condemned Patra's remark on social media demanding a public apology. They labeled the comment an affront to Odia pride and insisted Patra apologize to all Odisha citizens.

On May 20 PM Modi visited the Jagannath Temple sharing his prayers for progress and prosperity.

During his Odisha visit Modi also addressed rallies in Dhenkanal and Cuttack. Odisha is preparing for simultaneous Lok Sabha and assembly elections and Modi's visit is part of the BJP's efforts to challenge CM Naveen Patnaik's BJD government.

Even the pro-BJP groups are calling Patra's statetement as an unnecessary overdosed 'bhajan' to Modi which may boomerang during election time.
