Cricket fans are not only familiar with male cricketers but also with many talented women cricketers. In recent years, women’s cricket has become quite popular. Recently, the Indian women’s team won the World Cup and received nationwide praise, along with huge cash rewards. These days, people are watching women’s cricket matches with great interest — a sport that was once ignored and underestimated.
Among the popular women cricketers is Amanda Wellington, the 28-year-old Australian leg-spinner. She is all set to become the daughter-in-law of India, as she’s going to marry an Indian man. Amanda is engaged to Hamraj, a young man from Punjab. The couple recently got engaged in a grand ceremony held at the Taj Mahal.
Amanda shared the happy news with her fans on social media. She reportedly met Hamraj at a music concert in Australia, and the two fell in love. They later decided to tie the knot, and their engagement took place soon after. After the wedding, Amanda plans to move to India and settle here. She has even expressed her wish to play cricket for India if she is granted Indian citizenship.
Amanda said she is deeply interested in representing India in international cricket. She added that she loves Indian culture, traditions, and especially Indian cuisine. She also revealed that she stays completely vegetarian on Tuesdays and Saturdays.
Amanda Wellington was part of the Australian squad that won the 2018 World Cup and was also a 2022 ODI champion. A right-arm leg spinner, she is known for her sharp turn and ability to outfox batters.
So far, Amanda has played one Test match for Australia, where she took two wickets with an average of 65. Between 2016 and 2022, she featured in 14 One-Day Internationals (ODIs) and claimed 18 wickets at an average of 29.8.
