For the first time in the 72-year history of the Miss World pageant, a contestant has abruptly withdrawn from the competition. That alone would have been newsworthy. But what followed created an even bigger storm — the contestant made controversial allegations after her exit.
Miss England, Mila Maggi, claimed she felt like a "prostitute" at a dinner party due to the way people looked at her. She went on to allege that organizers had suggested she approach certain tables to entertain wealthy men. That’s where the controversy truly exploded.
Now the big questions are: Who were those wealthy men? Who gave those instructions to Mila?
The Telangana government has reportedly formed a committee to investigate the matter. Finding out who the wealthy men were, and who instructed Mila, is not difficult. Mila attended only one dinner — and that detail was confirmed by Telangana Tourism Principal Secretary Jayesh Ranjan.
The dinner took place at Chowmahalla Palace, attended by about 300 prominent guests including Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and actor Nagarjuna.
Identifying who looked at Mila in a certain way, or at which table she was seated, is not hard either — the entire event was under CCTV surveillance and conducted strictly by protocol.
However, even if the wealthy middle-aged men Mila referred to are identified, will there be a proper investigation? Will their names be made public? That’s the real question — especially considering the high-profile nature of the attendees that evening.
Who at such an elite gathering looked at Mila Maggi in a way that made her feel cheap — like a sex worker?
