What Did the Hero Do with the Rs 72 Crore Property Gifted by a Fan?

In Telugu cinema, fans are known to tear their shirts in devotion to their favorite stars. For a while, they even went a step further — tearing the shirts of rival fans! Over time, this evolved into a spectacle: fans tearing shirts, throwing paper bits in theaters, and even ending up in the UK, getting scolded by security guards. One wonders — are these educated people? Do they have any sense of decency?

But in Bollywood, fandom seems to take a different form. A fan once went to an extraordinary extent — gifting her assets worth Rs 72 crores to her favorite hero. This isn’t a recent incident; it goes back to 2018, when such a story made headlines in Bollywood. A woman named Nisha Patil, a die-hard fan of Sanjay Dutt, legally transferred her entire wealth — worth a whopping Rs 72 crores — to the actor. Terminally ill and on her deathbed, she reportedly wrote a will naming Sanjay Dutt as the sole heir to her estate. She passed away at the age of 62, leaving the nation stunned by her gesture.

Sanjay Dutt, then and now, has always been financially secure. Despite facing legal cases and jail time, he's remained one of Bollywood's most iconic mass heroes. With decades of stardom behind him, he’s never lacked fan following or financial stability. His parents were also top stars of their time — they neither lost their wealth to poor investments nor were they reckless spenders. Though Dutt had his battles with personal addictions, he was still a highly paid actor. And yet, this fan left everything to him — purely out of admiration.

Now, many celebrities might have accepted such a gift without hesitation. But not Sanjay Dutt. According to reports, Dutt politely declined the bequest and instead transferred the property back to Nisha Patil’s family. Even though her action was driven by extreme fandom, Dutt responded with dignity — returning the assets and honoring the emotional weight of her decision without exploiting it.

He didn’t think, “It’s a gift — I’ll take it.” He showed that he wasn’t driven by greed, even when it came to such a massive fortune. Back in 2018 and even today, Rs 72 crores is no small amount. Accepting it wouldn’t have brought criticism either — after all, it was a fan’s offering made out of love. But Dutt’s decision to redirect it to her family speaks volumes about his character. His gesture clarified that money doesn’t rule him — integrity does.
