Social media is buzzing with rumours surrounding the indefinite postponement of star women’s cricketer Smriti Mandhana’s wedding. Reports claim that the ceremony, which was expected to take place within hours, was postponed after Smriti’s father Srinivas Mandhana fell seriously ill.
However, several media outlets now report that these rumours are false and that the wedding may actually have been called off altogether.
Adding to the speculation, Smriti Mandhana’s fiancé Palash Muchhal—who had recently been hospitalised for viral infection and acidity—has reportedly fallen ill again. Just hours after Smriti’s father was admitted, Palash too had to be rushed to the hospital. Though he recovered and was discharged earlier, he has once again been admitted to Mumbai’s SVR Hospital, his team confirmed.
Amid this, widespread reports claim that serious differences have emerged between the two families, allegedly leading to the cancellation of the wedding.
Fueling further rumours, social media users point out that Smriti, her friends, and others have recently deleted several proposal videos, photos, and wedding-related posts. Observers note that if the wedding was only postponed, there would be no reason to remove all such content — raising more questions about what really happened.
