Pakistan’s intelligence agents are now pretending to be Indian defence officials to gather information on Operation Sindoor. They have been calling Indian civilians and journalists, using an Indian phone number (+91 7340921702), and asking for sensitive details. The callers claim to be from the Chief of Defence Staff’s office and talk about a military press briefing in New Delhi.
These fake calls focus on learning what journalists plan to ask during the briefing, especially about any damage caused to Indian military bases. The Indian government has warned people not to respond to such calls, clearly stating that Pakistani operatives are behind them.
Many defence reporters, including those from Network18, received these suspicious calls. Several of them posted on X (formerly Twitter) to alert others about this information campaign by Pakistan’s Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR). Authorities continue to caution the public against falling for such deceptive tactics.
