From the very beginning, Kubera seems to have suffered from poor planning — not just during shooting, but even now, during promotions. The signs are clear: the first copy of the film wasn’t ready on time, songs weren’t released as scheduled, and the team couldn't even coordinate proper promotional events with the cast.
Now, just hours before the film's release, another issue has emerged — advance bookings in Tamil Nadu, the key market, are still not fully open.
Dhanush, as is well known, enjoys a stronger fan base in Tamil than in Telugu. His films tend to perform better in Kollywood. So, when a film starring such a major star struggles to open advance bookings in Tamil Nadu even on the eve of release, it clearly reflects mismanagement.
The Tamil version is reportedly still undergoing censor formalities in Chennai. Interestingly, there’s a slight difference in runtime between the Telugu and Tamil versions. Once the censor process is complete, full-scale advance bookings are expected to begin.
However, it already feels too late — the damage in terms of buzz and momentum may have already been done.
