Every time people see Janhvi Kapoor, they are reminded of her mother, Sridevi. It’s not something she tries to do intentionally—the resemblance is simply natural. But for the first time, Janhvi made a conscious effort to look like her mother Sridevi—and that too, on an international stage.
Janhvi made her debut appearance at the Cannes Film Festival, a platform that carries immense global recognition. Wanting to pay tribute to her mother on such a prestigious red carpet, Janhvi chose a look that would evoke memories of Sridevi.
She wore a soft pink traditional Indian outfit designed by Tarun Tahiliani. The attire was carefully chosen to reflect Indian heritage and subtly honor Sridevi. The intent behind the design—to remind people of the legendary actress—was clear at first glance.
Accompanied by her mentor Karan Johar, Janhvi shone gracefully on the Cannes red carpet, drawing admiration and evoking nostalgia among Indian audiences, who were reminded of the timeless charm of Sridevi.
Currently, Janhvi is focusing more on South Indian cinema. She is working on a Telugu film titled Pedhi, starring opposite Ram Charan. She is expected to rejoin the film’s sets soon.
