Genelia Opens Up Career and Offers

While actresses like Alia Bhatt, Deepika Padukone, Katrina Kaif, and Kiara Advani continue to thrive in the film industry even after marriage — some even after having children — Genelia D'Souza feels her situation is quite the opposite.

Genelia recently revealed that she has been facing rejection in the industry after marriage and motherhood. Despite making efforts to return to acting, she claims many filmmakers have shown little interest in casting her.

After a long break, she starred in a film alongside Aamir Khan. Genelia clarified that Aamir didn’t cast her just out of goodwill — she had to audition three times, and only after he was fully satisfied with her performance did he offer her the role.

Genelia has expressed her desire for other filmmakers to also give her a fair chance — she’s open to auditions and wants to be judged purely on merit. She added that although she has many friends in the South Indian film industry, she hasn’t received any offers from there either.

Her candid comments reflect the silent struggle many married actresses may face — a sharp contrast to the few who continue to shine in mainstream cinema.
