Aishwarya Rai is known not just for her beauty and acting, but also for her firm decision-making — especially when it comes to turning down roles she doesn’t believe in. Director Ram Gopal Varma once revealed how tough Aishwarya can be when rejecting offers. In fact, when a well-known serial director approached her with a story, she had her manager politely say she was “busy for the next seven years” because she didn’t like the script.
While most stars start saying “no” only after achieving stardom, Aishwarya was clear about her choices even before entering the film industry. She recently opened up about this in an international magazine interview, surprising even her fans.
One of the biggest revelations? Aishwarya was originally offered the lead role in Raja Hindustani, a Bollywood blockbuster starring Aamir Khan. This offer came even before she won the Miss World title. However, she turned it down to focus seriously on the Miss World pageant.
Even after becoming Miss World, she rejected another major film — Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. Director Karan Johar initially wanted Aishwarya for the role that eventually went to Rani Mukerji. But Aishwarya didn’t connect with the character and said no to the project.
Fans were surprised by these revelations — not just because of the films she turned down, but also because of how consistently she’s stood by her choices in both her career and personal life. At one point, Aishwarya was dating Salman Khan, but when his behavior didn’t sit right with her, she walked away. Despite Salman reportedly trying to win her back for a long time, she didn’t give in.
Clearly, Aishwarya Rai isn’t just a star — she’s someone who knows her worth and isn’t afraid to say “no,” no matter how big the opportunity.
