Andhra Pradesh To Get Rs 22,000 Crore Investment

ReNew Power will invest Rs 22,000 crore to set up India’s largest renewable energy complex in Andhra Pradesh, marking its return to the state after five years. The project will include a 1,800 MW solar plant, a 1,000 MW wind power facility, and a 2 GWh battery energy storage system (BESS), to be developed in phases at Anantapur.

In the first phase, ReNew will build 587 MW of solar, 250.8 MW of wind power, and a 415 MWh BESS. A 100-kilometre extra-high voltage transmission line will also be constructed to carry clean energy. The groundbreaking is scheduled for May 16 and may be attended by state minister Nara Lokesh.

This project is seen as a vote of confidence in the new Andhra Pradesh government under N Chandrababu Naidu, after the previous regime’s review of power purchase agreements led to a halt in renewable energy investment between 2019 and 2024.
