Sunday budget, 2nd time in indian history

Sunday budget, 2nd time in indian history

Sunday is usually a holiday across the country. Banks are closed, shops are closed, offices are closed—everyone takes a day off. But this Sunday will be a complete exception. The Union Budget will be presented tomorrow, and as a result, the stock market will be open. Opening the stock market on a Sunday is happening for the second time in history.

Previously, the stock market was opened on Sunday, February 28, 1999. After all these years, the market is opening on a Sunday again. It will operate just like any regular trading day, from 9:15 AM to 3:30 PM. In 2015, 2020, and 2025, the stock market opened on Saturdays, but this is only the second time it is opening on a Sunday in history.

Tomorrow, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will begin her budget speech at 11 AM. In the meantime, the stock market is likely to see fluctuations based on leaks. By 12 PM, the real market trend could emerge. Historically, the stock market does not see major swings on the day of the budget, and crashes are very rare. The market is expecting a similar scenario this time as well.

However, the full impact of the budget is usually visible the next day, Monday. So, the complete market trend will likely be apparent then. This marks the ninth consecutive time that Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is presenting the Union Budget in Parliament.

Meanwhile, rumors of a budget leak have started circulating on social media, with some alleged copies being shared online. The government has clarified that all such copies are fake.
