The Governor has taken serious note of the arrangements made for Lionel Messi’s Kolkata visit and has sought a detailed report from the West Bengal government.
Following the confusion during the tour, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee apologised to fans and requested their forgiveness. She admitted that there were management lapses and announced the formation of an inquiry committee to investigate the issue.
Fans were left furious after Messi reportedly left without playing a match. At Salt Lake Stadium, angry supporters vandalised seats and threw chairs and water bottles onto the ground. Amid the unrest, Messi’s team exited the stadium through a tunnel.
