Operation Sindhoor: India Launches Retaliatory Strikes

India has initiated a strong and decisive response to the barbaric terror attack in Pahalgam. In a swift and strategic move, the Indian armed forces carried out aerial strikes post-midnight on Tuesday, targeting terrorist camps located in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). Reports suggest that nine terror bases and training camps were hit in the operation, which has been named Operation Sindhoor.

All nine terrorist hideouts were reportedly destroyed in the strikes. Officials stated that the objective of the mission was to dismantle the terror infrastructure operating in Pakistan and PoK that has been fueling anti-India activities. It was also clarified that none of the targeted sites were associated with the Pakistani military, indicating that the attacks were precisely aimed at terrorist facilities based on accurate intelligence.

According to Pakistan’s media outlet Dawn, the Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, acknowledged the Indian missile strikes in areas like Kotli, Bahawalpur, and Muzaffarabad early Wednesday morning.

Even as the Indian government was issuing alerts and mock drill orders to prepare civilians for potential conflict escalation, it is notable that India opted for these lightning strikes in response.

Following the gruesome terror attack in Pahalgam, the Indian government reacted strongly. Prime Minister Narendra Modi had warned in stern terms that none of the perpetrators would be spared. Since then, a series of high-level meetings were held with military commanders, security agencies, and ministers including the Prime Minister, Home Minister, and Defence Minister to deliberate the course of action.

Even opposition parties stood united in support of the government’s decision to retaliate against Pakistan, pledging their full backing irrespective of the steps taken. In this backdrop, the Indian Air Force's destruction of nine terror camps post-midnight on Tuesday marks a significant strategic development.
