Musk In China After Cancelling India Tour

Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla Inc. is currently in China for an undisclosed visit. He is expected to meet officials to discuss the rollout of Tesla's Full Self Driving software, as per sources. 

Musk's trip not publicly announced coincides with a turbulent period for Tesla following a canceled visit to India which is cited due to company issues.

The focus of Musk's visit is Tesla's Full Self Driving technology is aimed at entering new markets like China. 

Tesla faces challenges in China including restrictions on its vehicles in certain government areas due to cybersecurity concerns.

China's electric vehicle (EV) market is competitive with local companies like Xpeng Inc. and Xiaomi Corp. emphasizing advanced driver assisted systems in their vehicles.

Tesla, losing market share in China has responded with price cuts and job cuts including canceling graduate offers in China.

Despite these challenges Tesla's Shanghai factory which is operational since 2019 remains crucial, producing more than half of the company's global deliveries. 

Tesla plans to launch lower cost EVs this year to address slow growth.
