First Ever BJP Government In Odisha

The first-ever Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in Odisha will be sworn in on June 10 at Bhubaneswar’s Janata Maidan as announced by senior party leaders.

During their campaign PM Modi and BJP leaders had promised this date if they won.

The BJP secured 78 seats in the Odisha Assembly elections and two independent winners have joined them increasing their strength to 80 out of 147 seats.

They garnered over 40% of the total votes an increase of nearly 8% since 2019.

The central BJP leadership will send top leaders to Odisha in the next few days to discuss and decide the next chief minister.

Potential candidates include former Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan, national vice-president Baijayant Panda, senior leader Suresh Pujari, Puri MP Sambit Patra, former union tribal affairs minister Jual Oram and former chief whip Mohan Majhi.

Pradhan won from Sambalpur with a significant margin.
